Newney Green Lounge
  • Project:Newney Green Lounge
  • Date:November 2016

Working closely with the client’s architect, we aimed to maximise the use of space as efficiently as possible, through the client’s brief of storage surrounding the main window of their lounge. In particular, the design was to remain simple and sleek, while elegantly working around the existing furnishings. In order to do this, we also worked around the radiators, which we achieved by designing split drawer fronts in order to keep the overall look clean. The centre of the piece offers trunk storage. This furniture incorporates dovetails in the drawer construction, complemented by a hand-waxed finish. The window unit is made from European Oak, which has had a lime wash and oiled finish.

Features of this project include:

  • Quarter cut oak
  • Worktop in constructional oak
  • Hand painted in limed finish with oil finish on top
  • Optimal use of space (detail of drawer cut through, to allow opening against radiator)
  • Dovetailed drawer box with wax finish
