One of our earlier projects, these matching bedside units were designed to fit neatly alongside the master bed, with drawers providing a variety of storage sizes. Incorporated into each piece was a small niche in which to house bedside trinkets. Made from solid European Oak, selected timber was used on the drawer fronts in order to maintain the grain characteristics. Smaller drawers were constructed on traditional timber runners, with hand waxed dovetailed drawer boxes. An elegant bevel was styled into the top to give a more delicate appearance to the bedside surfaces, and finally the pieces were given a hand oiled finish.
We were also asked by the client to create some efficient storage space around an existing chimney breast, adjacent to these bedside units. This provided a challenge in aiming to design a flowing piece of furniture, which actually concealed the chimney breast within. Cleverly concealed behind the tall cupboard therefore, lies a shallower unit containing a dressing mirror. This piece offers myriad storage options, consisting of drawer unit and open shelving, and has a hand painted finish.
